Phoenix Fire says crews responded at 2 p.m. for reports of a car fire that spread to a Firestone Auto Shop. Just before 2:30 a.m. at a 7-Eleven near McDowell Road and 48th Street, officers responded to a shooting and found two men with gunshot wounds, according to police. On New Year's Day, more than 100 people were forced to evacuate the hotel when an apparent electrical fire broke out on the fifth floor. Shimone Boyer, 52, is the father of four children, two of which died as a result of a north Phoenix residential fire.
